Reconnecting with the Energy of the Greek Gods – A four-day retreat in the Greek mountains with Argonaut and philosophical Facilitator Dr. Christoph Quarch
The art of leadership is not simply a technique. Being a leader requires internalising some fundamental virtues and qualities of mature humanity. The ancient Greeks knew the crucial features of flourishing aliveness, and they visualized them through their myths and arts in the form of their immortal Gods. Every God incorporates a genuine aspect of human fulfilment or magnitude. Zeus, king of Gods and men, manifests the creative power of wisdom and passion. Hera, his spouse, represents the authority of tradition, lineage and family. Ancient Greek mythology is thus a master-tool for the study of the art of leadership.
The palace of Zeus was Mount Olympus. At its slopes, above the sea, you will find the pretty village of Palaios Panteleimonas, with its ancient stone houses, enchanted alleys and its church square vaulted by gigantic plane trees. There we reside, and from there we go on excursions to the sights of the surrounding area and explore the breathtaking natural beauty of Mount Olympus.
We meet Zeus and Hera in poetry and myth as well as in art and philosophy. We follow in their footsteps in the sanctuaries of Dion and Vergina and we let ourselves be filled by their spirit during our workshop-sessions.

We will give you a warm welcome at Thessaloniki-Airport. After that, by a 90 minutes car-drive in our comfortable vans you proceed to Palaios Panteleimonas. After having checked in at Agnanti Guesthouse we gather for a welcome drink and become familiar with each other, the location, and the topic. Later on, at dinner you enjoy the legendary Greek hospitality.
As every morning we start our day on the guesthouse terrace with its magnificent view on Mt Olympus and the sea. After some easy exercise and authentic Greek breakfast Christoph will give an introductory talk on how to deal with ancient thought and why it still contains so much significant wisdom waiting to be explored. The second part of the morning is dedicated to storytelling, as you will listen to the most crucial myth of the celestial royal couple Hera & Zeus. For lunchbreak in about 30 minutes you will travel to Dion, the mayor Zeus-Sanctuary of the ancient Macedonian where Alexander the Great once performed his masterpiece of leadership when gathering his vassals before embarking for his campaign against the Persian. You will explore the remnants of the location, listen to some poetry on Zeus recited by Christoph, and proceed later in the afternoon to the seaside where you can relax either by taking a bath in the crystal-clear water or have a drink in the famous Gallaria-Bar nearby … or both. Dinner will take place after your return to Agnanti Guesthouse.
After breakfeast Christoph will decode the ancient myths of Zeus in order to sketch the god’s genuine style of leadership and governance, which is all about cognition, virility and passion. Having conceived this mentally after a break Christine and Christoph will make you feel the divine energy of Zeus in the flesh. Don’t be afraid: Feeling like a Greek god means unleashing your very human but nonetheless divine potentials… Being that energized, lunch will be a brilliant option. So you’ll stroll to the village square where different lovely taverns wait for your visit. Later in the afternoon on hidden trails around the village you hike to a viewpoint in a chestnut-grove where you will have some conversations on the topics of the day. Back at the Guesthouse after a little rest it’s story-time again. Christoph will tell you about Zeus’ spouse and sister Hera and her sometimes irritating temper. As final highlight of the day you’ll have diner in a tiny seafood-tavern in the nearby village of Platamonas.
Hera is far more than the ever-jealous, troublesome wife of an unfaithful husband. In his morning talk Christoph will introduce you to the queen of Heaven. She is the descendant and heir of Gaia, the most honourable mother of gods and men. And she manifests the power of tradition, family, and lineage. Therefore, her authority derives from a different layer of reality than Zeus’ one – and this exactly grants the couple an extraordinary power and authority. Male and female, conscious and subconscious power-principles, sovereignty, and dignity converge in their common regiment. As for Zeus later in the morning you will explore the Heran energy within in yourself, when Christine and Christoph invite you to an energetic Plug-in-Session. In the afternoon you will be on the road again, heading for Vergina, where after a brief lunch you will visit one of Europe’s most amazing museum built inside the ancient tumulus where the Macedonian king Philip II, father of Alexander the Great was buried. The grave goods found in his tomb testify to an unprecedented splendour and beauty. Before the final diner in Agnanti Guesthouse again you will have the opportunity for a relaxing dive into the sea and a nice drink at Gallaria Bar.
Straight after breakfast you will travel back to Thessaloniki airport.
